The Community Sport Network (CSN) is a program of the Sport Alliance of Ontario. The CSN itself is an organized collective of Community Sport Councils and groups working to form Community Sport Councils. The purpose of the Network is to share information and expertise leading to the enhanced development and operation of Community Sport Councils in Ontario.

The Challenge
The CSN's objective was to redesign and redevelop an online presence that would allow for the creation of a highly functional, visually appealing, interactive website. The CSN's focus in undertaking the project was to create a virtual online community that would act as a portal or central sport resource for community sport groups across the province of Ontario.

The Solution
PSC's solution to addressing the needs of the CSN was to develop a user friendly website that employed the principles of good web design, web accessibility and usability.

PSC, and launched at the Ontario Sport Leadership Conference in Markham, Ontario . In less than six months, the website has experienced exceptional growth of over 300 percent in unique visits.

The new CSN website was designed and developed to encourage member interaction through features such as Message Boards, Event Calendars and a clear navigation structure. Content and Document Management Tools allow administrators to regularly update and organize resources on the website.

Technical Features of the new site include:
User Tools:

• Site-specific search engine
  
• Automatic membership approval - new members can sign up and be instantly approved without the need of manual intervention from a CSN administrator

Administrative Tools:
The following tools were created to allow the CSN administrators to update the website without having any previous knowledge of Web Design or HTML coding.

• Content Management Solution - Allows administrators to have the ability to add content items (text, hyper links etc.) to predefined sections of the website (e.g. News Items, Upcoming events etc.) Consequently, content is always current and accurate
  
• Document Management Solution - Allows administrators to upload documents (e.g. Word, PowerPoint documents etc.) to help build and support local Community Sport Councils
  
• Event Calendar - Allows administrators to add different sport related events from local CSCs and other sport groups
  
• Interactive Message Board - Allows Administrators and members to post topics of discussion, which all members can participate in, thereby fostering the feeling of an on-line community
  
• Membership Management Solution - Allows Administrators to grant and delete memberships. Detailed list of all member information can be downloaded at any time.
